Enugu - The Enugu State Government has banned staging of beauty pageants in the state without approval from the government, according to the state’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Joe Mamel.
This is contained in a statement signed by the commissioner in Enugu on Friday and made available to newsmen.
He said that some organisations were using the pageants to extort money from the public and warned that henceforth, any organisation or individual planning to stage pageants must seek the approval of the ministry.
According to him, failure to do so would attract serious sanctions.
